AN OLD WILSON SIX ELEMENT BEAM AT 100 ft   (I lust for more)

This is a web site under construction by Wayne Doolin, WG7F. Thank you for taking the time to visit me here.  The QTH is located in the hills of South Salem, Oregon at an elevation of One-Thousand feet above sea level.  As with most all amateur radio sites, we are always under some form of improvement in the way of equipment and especially antennas: There always seems to be a better way to do things and sometimes just a differant way to do the same old things.

Every site has its advantages and disadvantages and, thus, its challenges.  That is just one of the many things that draws me to this hobby.  The advantage here is elevation and steep sloping terrain around the tower site.  The disadvantages include a Two-Hundred foot run from the tower base to the house and a forest that will take a lot of clearing before more towers can be put up...Bottom line is distance; it's not my friend.

BASE OF THE FOREST TOWER AND OLD SHACK BUILT IN 1986

I could, of course, move all the radios to the insulated building I put up years ago at the base of the tower, but I've learned form experience that I won't be on the air if I have to hike to the top of the hill: I think it has something to do with the distance to all my other creature comforts...One of those being the XYL, Eileen--or maybe the coffee pot.

WHEN IT COMES TO WORK, I HAVE MY LITTLE DISTRACTIONS.

Please be patient with me...As the sweet smells of spring usher in a new season, one turns to new projects.  There will be lots to share!
